An honest comparison of the smart home companies serving Abu Dhabi villas and apartments in 2026. Specialties, price tiers, and who each is best for — so you can pick the right partner instead of the loudest brand.

Picking a smart home company in Abu Dhabi is harder than it should be. Every provider calls themselves "the leading", "premium", or "luxury" — but their actual specialties, pricing tiers, and after-sales support vary widely. This guide cuts through the marketing and gives you a working shortlist, organised by what each company is actually good at.
We've focused on companies that genuinely operate in Abu Dhabi (not just Dubai with a sticker on the website), have demonstrable installations, and cover the systems most UAE villa and apartment owners actually need: KNX or wireless lighting, climate, blinds, security, and AV.
Before listing the companies, here's the criteria we weighted:
Best for: Abu Dhabi villa owners who specifically want a local team. Specialty: Wireless and KNX hybrid villa deployments.
One of the few players whose entire identity is built around Abu Dhabi rather than Dubai. Useful when you want a contractor who understands Saadiyat, Yas Island, and Al Reem villa layouts and can be on-site in 24 hours rather than next week.
Best for: Mid-to-luxury villas across the UAE. Specialty: KNX home automation with strong content marketing and engineering depth.
Smartec is one of the most established KNX integrators in the UAE with a detailed catalogue of completed projects. Pricing is on the higher side but they document their work, which matters for handover.
Best for: Villa owners committed to a full KNX system. Specialty: KNX-only, with strong technical certification.
As the name implies, this is a KNX specialist, not a generalist. They tend to be more expensive than wireless-first competitors, but if you want a wired system that lasts 20 years without firmware roulette, they're a credible pick. Most projects have been Dubai-based but they do take Abu Dhabi work.
Best for: Lighting-led smart home builds. Specialty: KNX lighting control and shading, often with Lutron partnerships.
Strong on the lighting side specifically. If your priority is dimming, scenes, and architectural lighting design rather than a full systems integration, LuxSmart is worth a quote.
Best for: Apartment retrofits and modern wireless builds. Specialty: Wireless protocols (Zigbee, Matter) and app-led smart home.
Wireless-first integrator. Faster installs and lower price points than KNX specialists, at the cost of long-term reliability. Good fit for apartments, townhouses, and villa owners who want to test smart home features before a permanent integration.
Best for: Premium audio-visual and home cinema integration. Specialty: AV-led smart home with luxury brand partnerships.
ALAYOUBI is heavier on the AV and home cinema side than pure-play smart home, but they handle integration with KNX and Crestron. A strong shortlist option if your project includes a dedicated cinema room or whole-home audio.
Best for: Mid-range villa and apartment automation. Specialty: Lighting, security, and climate control with mainstream brand partnerships.
Home Engine targets the comfortable middle of the market — neither budget wireless nor luxury KNX. Practical option for owners who want a working smart home without a six-figure price tag.
Best for: Commercial and mixed-use buildings as well as high-end residential. Specialty: Building management systems and home automation hybrid.
Stronger on the BMS (building management system) side than purely residential. Worth considering if your project is a multi-unit residential building or a villa with significant commercial-style infrastructure (large pool plant, dedicated server room, etc).
Best for: Abu Dhabi villas and SMEs that want smart home, ELV, AI, and software integration under one roof. Specialty: Multi-discipline IT + smart home + AI integrator.
Disclosure: this is our company. We've kept ourselves on the list because we're a genuine option for Abu Dhabi clients, but the honest framing is this: if you need only a smart home, the KNX specialists above will likely quote tighter. Where we add value is when the project also touches IT infrastructure, networks, CCTV/ELV, AI integrations (e.g. Arabic chatbots or face-recognition access), or custom software. We can scope and deliver that as one project rather than coordinating four contractors.
A few smaller integrators are strong in specific Abu Dhabi communities:
| Company | Primary stack | Best for | Price tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smart Home Abu Dhabi | Hybrid | Abu Dhabi villas | Mid |
| Smartec | KNX | Mid-luxury villas | Mid-High |
| KNX Dubai | KNX | Full KNX builds | High |
| LuxSmart | KNX + Lutron | Lighting-led | High |
| Geesmart | Wireless | Apartments / retrofits | Low-Mid |
| ALAYOUBI | AV + KNX | Cinema / AV | High |
| Home Engine | Wireless + KNX | Mid-range villas | Mid |
| EmirTech | BMS + Smart Home | Buildings / large villas | High |
| Skyline Advanced Technology | Smart Home + IT + AI | Multi-discipline projects | Mid-High |
Three steps that save time and money:
If you're at step 1 and want a no-pressure scoping conversation about your specific villa or apartment, reach out — even if you end up choosing one of the other companies above.
For full KNX villa builds, Smartec, KNX Dubai, and LuxSmart are the most established. For wireless or hybrid retrofits, Smart Home Abu Dhabi, Geesmart, and Home Engine are strong mid-tier picks. For projects that combine smart home with IT, ELV, AI, or custom software, Skyline Advanced Technology is the typical multi-discipline option. The right choice depends on whether your villa is wired-friendly (KNX) or already finished (wireless).
KNX is a wired international standard requiring structured cabling — so KNX-focused companies are best for new construction or major renovations. Wireless-focused companies (using Matter, Zigbee, Lutron Caseta) are faster and cheaper to install in finished homes but rely on Wi-Fi and have a shorter typical lifespan (5-8 years vs 15-25 for KNX). Many companies offer both and recommend based on your home's stage.
Apartment retrofits with wireless systems: AED 2,500-15,000. Mid-range villa automation: AED 50,000-150,000. Full KNX luxury villa with multi-zone climate, shading, lighting, AV, and security: AED 200,000-1,500,000+. Get at least three quotes from companies in the same tier — comparing a KNX specialist to a wireless installer is not a fair comparison.
Many Dubai companies do take Abu Dhabi work, and several are excellent. The trade-off is response time for after-sales support: a Dubai team may take 24-48 hours to dispatch a technician to Abu Dhabi vs same-day for a local company. For a 15-year system, that matters. If you choose a Dubai-based integrator, get the after-sales SLA in writing.
Ask for: (1) a written quote itemising hardware, programming, commissioning, and warranty; (2) at least one completed-project reference you can call or visit; (3) the brand certifications they hold (KNX Partner, Lutron, Crestron, Loxone, etc.); (4) what happens if the company closes — can your system be reprogrammed by another KNX integrator using ETS files? (5) a written after-sales SLA covering response time and call-out fees.
Yes, but coordinate carefully. The cleanest split is a single integrator for the wired automation backbone (KNX or Loxone) plus a specialist for AV/cinema and a separate provider for surveillance. The risk with too many vendors is finger-pointing when something fails — design responsibility should be one named person from one company, with the others under their coordination.
